After trying to explain to a friend why i did Parkour and not being able to properly tell her I started to think. What is it exactly that keeps us training?
What makes us want to go outside and jump over the same wall over and over and over again?
Alot of people say freedom. But freedom can mean a lot of things. It means different things to different people because everyone has a different reason for training, and a different perception of Parkour.
For me it is freedom, but not completely a freedom from constriction and conventional urban movements, but freedom from myself. Escaping my life. Escaping everything that is wrong in the world.
When I train I do not think about problems with shool, work, friends or family. I commit completely to my training. Though sometimes this is not possible. Training is a way of positively venting all my pent up emotions and worries.
But it is not the process of training that does this for me. It is the moment of no return that gives me that freedom. It is that moment when doing a movement e.g. an arm jump and your last point of contact with the ground or the obstacle breaks off. That is when you HAVE to follow through that movement all the way or you will create a possibility of injury. That moment when you do not have any connection to anything, you could be anywhere in the world, and the only thing you have to control is yourself, where you hands, feet and entire body are going. That is the moment of complete freedom that I strive for.

Happy New Year!
Happy new year everyone!
In the last year alot has happened. I Did my GCSE's and got some good results.
Started at Egglescliffe Sixth Form, which is great! I've met alot of good people there, new friends and improved on old freindships.
One on the main things in my life over that last year has been Parkour.
I went to the Trace gathering in the summer which was amazing!
And I have spent some good times with my good friends from North East Parkour. Big up the NEPK massiiive!
But the big downer in my Parkour training this year was the breaking of my arm.
That stopped my training. Which was crap. You don't realise how much something means to you until its gone. That somes up my year pretty much, in more ways that one. But thats not for a blog.
But 2008 will be my year.
Alot of hard work will be done on my part. Both in my education and in my Parkour training.
I have already started to build up the strength that i lost in my arms. Found my wieghts in the garage and have started to work out with those. I am using them to build up to starting doing body wieght exircises. And then going into training with alot of my strength already built up. Which will mean i will be able to progress forwards from around febuary onwards.
My goal is that by August the 21st I will be at around the same standard that i was before i broke my arm. I will hopefully get to that stage before then, but that will be the date that I am looking for to check I am on the right track. On the 21st of August I will be making a video to document my acheivement of my goal.

Went to the hospital on thursday and was given some bad news.
Originally they said I would start to be able to train now. But Unfortunatley they have said that i have to wait another 3 months before i can trian. GAH!
Oh well. Its winter so i wont be missing good training weather.
Aims:
Condition lower body alot.
Make some beasty videos.

Running
So today was the start of my new training regime until i can train properly.
I am now going to try and run around preston park. i dont know how far it is but ill will find out soon :) Edit: The entire run is just under 2 miles.....which is less that i thought it was lol. but im still kinda pleased with myself.
I was quite pleased with how i did on my first time out running like ever lol. I got about 3/4 around the park without stopping which iwas quite pleased about.
So yes, hopefully this will improve my overall fitness and will help my training alot when i get back into training :)

Breakage
On August the 21st I broke my arm! :) woo
I was trying a lache that was about 8/9 foot up and was quite a distance, though not my furthest. As I swung backwards my hands lipped meaning that i fell to the ground approx horizontally :S I tried to save myself by putting my arms out in front of me and this wasn't such a good idea.
I broke both the Ulna and the Radius in my forearm and was in hospital for 3 days.
On the morning of the 22nd I went into to surgery to have the bones realigned and two plates put in. I know have 2 permanent plates holding my bones together with 12 screws (that look just like they could be from B&Q lol.
I am now out of training for 2 months and then i will only be concentrating on conditioning until the start of the new year. I'm going to be doing light conditioning with small weights and probably a gripmaster.
Thanks to everyone that helped me when i broke it. And thank god for morphine...that's good stuff!!!!
hahahaha
